Print Design, Brand Management, Communications Guides
The University of Toronto is one of the world’s top universities, and equipping their students for success is critical. Jonathan and DATUM produced a cohesive suite of materials to empower UofT students to leverage all the school has to offer.
Background
After many years of assisting in the management of the University of Toronto visual identity, Jonathan worked as the in-house designer for Student Life. During that time, the complete orientation materials for the university were overhauled to reflect the new program visual style and offerings to students.
Previously resources and materials were scattered and difficult to locate or access for new students, due to the wide variety of programming within the university. With these new guides all of the resources and services available for incoming students were collected into a single reference book to aid them in their orientation and onboarding as new students.
New content was developed for First Year, Second Year, Third Year, and Graduate Students. These guides have companion resources online to further support new and returning students.

Crisis Response
Additionally, Jonathan has worked with the University of Toronto to develop and execute new Crisis Response Management Plans to provide frameworks for Faculties and Staff to follow during emergency situations on campus.
These guides feature easy-to-use designs, to provide quick, accurate reference materials for staff to follow under duress in crisis scenarios.
BE GOOD
It has been inspiring to support the University of Toronto in providing the highest calibre of education in a safe, respectful environment. Working directly with different departments of the University and leveraging Jonathan’s experience as the internal manager of visual identity positioned DATUM uniquely to serve the University and their students.
Supporting University staff during emergency or crisis situations through elegant, easy-to-use designs has been an honour. Although we hope our guides are never required - the UofT team can be confident knowing they have thorough, effective materials to guide them through crisis.
“We've been consistently pleased not only with the product he delivers, but also the process by which he manages his projects. Jonathan is professional, collaborative, responsive to client feedback, and delivers a product that helps communicate our messages succinctly and clearly.
Given the calibre of his work, we are happy to continue engaging him for a variety of products and projects.”
